Hi Mexico!

We don’t normally share personal stuff on here, but the support from past clients, friends, and other professionals in the industry has always been incredible, so I feel it necessary to share this update.

In a few words… we have moved out of America down to Mexico! It was decided in the middle of 2016. I won’t go too much into details, but I must say that from the business side of things, being in a comfortable + successful stage, meeting professional goals whenever set and already being part of a network, leaving everything back in the US was a very tough decision.

When I first went to America for school years ago I had no idea where that would take me. Somewhere along the way I met the love of my life, Sunny, and we started this adventure called Robert Oberg Wedding Films. Now we are back in my home country, with a lot of experiences we would not change, and with new goals and dreams. Some change once in a while is good, and we can’t complain: the food here is amazing, we live 15 minutes away from a lovely beach, and there’s family/relatives all around. Sometimes, however, we continue to miss Texas…

Alejandro Calore – An Online Session

A little over a week ago I had the opportunity to have an online mentoring session with Alejandro Calore. For those of you that don’t know, Alejandro Calore is a wedding filmmaker that has taken a very different approach than the one usually found in the wedding industry. He has applied true concepts of cinema, and he knows how to make a piece of art more than just a wedding film. His work communicates something very unique, beautiful, and often times poetic. It was an incredible opportunity for me to learn new things from someone I respect, and after years in the business it finally came my turn to write a review:

“I have been part of the wedding filmmaking industry for some years now, but since the moment I found about Alejandro Calore and his work, he stood out as very different and truly inspiring. I became very interested in his ideas and approach, and I was very glad to find him to be not only a very talented artist, but also a very approachable person. For a long time I waited for the opportunity to attend either one …

On a personal note

As we are in the middle of wedding season we wanted to write a post telling you a little about our journey so far. We considered different alternatives before jumping into wedding cinematography full time (back in 2014). We had already been shooting weddings on the side for some years and there was just something special about it… the awesome couples and their love stories, the emotions of the wedding day, the beautiful and touching ceremonies, the challenges, the creative side of the job, the artistic and also sentimental value of what we were producing. The fact is that weddings won our hearts. Wedding filmmaking became more than just work, it became something we loved. In the end, we believe, love and care are fundamental values in what we are doing. We decided we wanted to make amazing memories for our clients, not only as professionals but also doing it with passion and dedication.

We are true believers that our job is not only about capturing beautiful images, it is not only about being good at business… even more than anything …

Welcome!

Hello, welcome to the blog! For some time now I have been running a wedding film and photography business under the name of Abide Studios. While I plan to continue using Abide Studios for other media portfolio in the future, I have now decided to rebrand into a new name and pay special attention in the area of wedding films. I love and enjoy doing photography, but I have decided this change in order to provide a more personalized, professional, and boutique style service to my clients. With this change I have also opened this new section in the site: a blog.

The purpose of this blog is not only to showcase our latest wedding films and write helpful tips for brides or brides-to-be, but I also intend to share interesting and inspiring ideas for others interested in wedding cinematography and/or photography. A lot of what I do is related to  emotions and feelings from wedding days, but there is much more going on behind the scenes. For me, wedding cinematography is not only about how to handle cameras, know about …
